Different Worldviews

The polarization that the Internet is causing may change the world.

For a long time I’ve been thinking about how the internet has been separating people in a way never seen before, people are not talking to people close to them just because of some fight on the internet or for thinking differently about some topic. Humanity has always had different worldviews, but the internet ended up making this much more visible, so people who had never seen a world perception different than their own, started to come across this on the internet and somehow this started to divide people.

When people created a worldview, they would try to live with people who had similar worldviews, creating the famous social bubble. But with the internet, these people have started to “coexist” with social bubbles different from their own, causing them to feel that their world is being threatened, so in their mind they have the right to defend what they think and see as right. And this causes long discussions and enmities.

But what most people on the Internet don’t understand is that they are trying to make a completely different person, with totally different experiences from them, think the same as they do, and it will never work, it’s like people speaking another language. And more and more this is going to generate more and more friction and more disagreements, not only on the internet, but in real life. But maybe one day people will be able to understand each other’s differences and be able to have a healthy debate, of course showing their point of view, but understanding the other person’s view.
